FULL TIME: It was an admirable performance from Sheffield United but Sergio Aguero's goal off the bench secures the points for City.
Substitution: City make their final change. Bernardo Silva replaces Sterling.
There will be four minutes of stoppage time.
Booking: McBurnie is booked for a silly foul.
Booking: Aguero finds himself in the book for kicking the ball away and delaying the restart when it goes out.
Mahrez goes on a mazy dribble before turning inside and going for goal. His effort is blocked and rebounds away.
Substitution: Three changes being made here. Laporte is off for Garcia...
...And a double change for the hosts. Robinson and Lundstram come on for Basham and Besic.
Close! Rodri comes close to doubling the lead when his header from a corner won from that free-kick flashes just over the bar and lands on the roof of the net.
GOAL! Sheffield are made to pay for that miss moments ago as substitute Sergio Aguero opens the scoring for City.
Chance! So close for Sheffield. They get the ball out to Stevens in space and his excellent low ball into the box is met by the sliding big toe of McBurnie, but he can only glance it past the far post.
A Zinchenko cross from the left is going straight out for a goal kick until Stevens tries to clear it, practically air kicks it and concedes a corner. He's lucky McBurnie is there to bail him out and nod the delivery away.
Substitution: Aguero on for Jesus who missed the penalty earlier in the match.
Chance! Home side should be in front but Mousset fluffs his lines spectacularly. A lovely ball into McBurnie is fed into the box where Basham has made a run forward. His ball into the six-yard box is pushed away by Ederson and Mousset scuffs the chance.
Substitution: Captain Sharp is off and on comes Mousset for Sheffield.
Chance! De Bruyne swings in a corner, Rodri gets into space ahead of the near post and loops a header towards the back post and just wide of the far post. That was heart in mouth time.
Chance! Sheffield win another corner and Norwood pings in another brilliant delivery to the near post. Egan and O'Connell are both close to it but it's a defensive head that glances it past the far post and out for another one.
Booking: Rodri earns himself a booking for a foul on Fleck.
Mahrez's strike is blocked by the four-man Sheff Utd wall and cleared away to the half-way line. Barely five minutes into the second half and the increased intensity of this Man City side is already noticeable.
De Bruyne nearly shows what Man City have been missing straight from the off when his powerful low cross from wide on the left is allowed to travel along way until O'Connell intercepts ahead of Mahrez.
Booking: Fernandinho finds his way into the book when he goes right in on the back of a McBurnie header.
HALF TIME: Gabriel Jesus's saved penalty is the main talking point of the half. We're goalless at the break. Let's hope for some goals in the second half. Sheffield United 0-0 Manchester City.
SECOND HALF: We're back underway for the second half.
We're into one added minute.
Booking: Fleck with a bad challenge. Third Blades man in the book tonight.
Gabriel Jesus has missed 3 of his 5 Premier League penalties. Five minutes of normal time in the half.
Pep Guardiola is furious, and rightly so. Henderson was a yard off his line at the very least for that penalty save - but VAR official Andy Madley has seen nothing untoward.
SAVE! Henderson with a brilliant stop to deny Jesus, who went to the 'keeper's right. Well saved.
PENALTY! Manchester City have the chance to take the lead...
Sheffield United are yet to have a shot with more than half an hour now on the clock.
Chance! Otamendi connects perfectly with a right-wing cross. His acrobatic scissor kick forces another smart save from Henderson with his legs.
Booking: Norwood gives the ball away to Sterling and is forced to bring him down to end City's attack. Yellow card.
Save! Basham loses the ball in midfield and City spring a counter. Sterling and Mahrez exchange passes up the field before the England man fires a shot that is brilliantly stopped by Henderson's fingertips.
Sheff Utd go the closest they've come yet. Stevens exchanges passes down the left and gets into the box, where Fernandinho blocks his low cross and Walker clears before it can go behind for a corner.
Sheffield have started really well here. Man City have not got going just yet.
Booking: Besic is shown the first yellow of the game for a reckless challenge on Laporte.
Sheffield are getting the ball forward early and getting some joy from it. O'Connell's long ball is chested down by Sharp with his back to goal and when Otamendi bundles into him from behind, he wins a free-kick.
McBurnie's good hold-up play allows him to meet Sharp's run past him and the veteran looks to have got away from a Fernandinho and Rodri sandwich and over the half-way line, but he's nipped by the former and brought to ground.
Sheffield United are certainly not here to sit back though, and bomb forward down the right again through Baldock, until he runs into Zinchenko.
McBurnie struggles to control the ball on the half-way line and tries to slip it back to O'Connell. It's not a great pass and Jesus is onto it like a flash but slips, and lets the danger go.
