Lorch: I don't deserve Bafana call-up

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch doesn't believe he has done enough this season to warrant a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad.

Despite Lorch's reservations, South Africa head coach Stuart Baxter opted to include the Buccaneer star in his 25-man squad for the upcoming four-team tournament against Angola, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

"It's every player's wish to play for Bafana but for now I don't feel I am ready to play for the national team," said Lorch, according to SowetanLIVE website.

"I didn't start the season well - with injuries - so I just need to gain some confidence. I'll have to play regularly and help my team to win games."

Meanwhile, Pirates are preparing to take on Cape Town City in the Nedbank Cup last-16 in the Mother City on Wednesday.

"It won't be an easy game, playing away. We did our homework," Lorch said.

"We know their weaknesses and strengths.

"I feel right now as a team we are gelling and we are familiar with each other."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
