Former Sharks flyhalf set to join Bulls

Cape Town - Former Sharks flyhalf Garth April is reportedly set to sign a deal with the Bulls.

The fiekie7.co.za sports blog has it on good faith that April has agreed to join the Pretoria franchise.

The 27-year-old is expected back in the country on Thursday after his stint for NTT Communications Shining Arcs in the Japanese Top League.

April was on the Sharks' books between 2015 and 2018, but fell out of favour with Sharks coach Robert du Preez snr, who preferred his son Robert jnr at flyhalf and Curwin Bosch at fullback.

At the Bulls, April will be fighting for a flyhalf spot with Springbok Handre Pollard and the promising Manie Libbok.

April is also comfortable at fullback where Warrick Gelant is expected to be man in the hot seat.

The Bulls recently bolstered their stocks with Springboks Duane Vermeulen, Schalk Brits and Cornal Hendricks, while other exciting new recruits include the Blitzboks trio of Dylan Sage, Rosko Specman and Stedman Gans and loose forwards Muller Uys from Western Province and Paul Schoeman from the Cheetahs.
