Bulls look to bolster front-row stocks with former Sharks prop

Cape Town - Former Sharks prop Wiehahn Herbst appears set to be the latest player to move to the Bulls ahead of the 2019 Super Rugby season, according to the Netwerk24 website.

Herbst, 30, joined Irish club Ulster in 2014 and is eligible to play for Ireland.

However, it doesn’t appear that he is in national coach Joe Schmidt’s Rugby World Cup plans.

Herbst's time in Ireland has been blighted by injuries and he's made a total of 77 appearances for the province over the past five years.

Prior to his departure from Durban, Herbst played 82 Currie Cup matches and made 40 Super Rugby appearance for the Sharks.

The Bulls have already confirmed the signing of Springbok duo Schalk Brits and Duane Vermeulen.

In addition, Blitzboks Sevens trio Stedman Gans, Dylan Sage and Rosko Specman are all training with the franchise, as well as former Springbok wing, Cornal Hendricks.

The Bulls begin their Super Rugby season by welcoming the Stormers to Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, February 16.
