TRY! WARATAHS! FAULKNER! 29-17. It's a wonderful move from the front of the lineout by the Waratahs, which allows Hooper to get it close. The ball is recycled quickly and given to Tetera Faulkner who runs onto it at pace and shoves it over the line for the try!
Hunt puts a kick through toward the wing which is collected by Tyrone Green. He gets it near the touchline though, where he is clattered by Maddocks and Ramm, who drag him over the line.
It's another poor kick from Beale, from an even easier position. The Lions still have a sniff.
The Lions are penalised for not rolling away. Beale will have another shot at goal, looking to extend the lead beyond a single Lions score.
The Waratahs clear with a good kick chase. Ulengo is then punished for playing the ball on the ground at halfway so the Waratahs can launch an attack. They kick to touch inside the Lions 22.
Beale drives a kick from the back of the scrum into the Lions 22. They take it quickly and do well to carry it out . The ball opens up in broken play for the Lions, and Ulengo kicks over the defence. Had the ball stayed in, he would've been able to collect it and score, but it bounces into touch near the Waratahs 22.
Willem Alberts coughs up the pill on halfway from an easy pass. Poor from the veteran.
Shocking kick from Beale and that be a moment that the Waratahs rue heavily.
It's an offside penalty against the Lions from right in front, about 30 out. Beale will have the shot at goal as Harrison receives treatment.
CONVERSION! LIONS! JANTJIES! 24-17. The Lions flyhalf takes a drop kick from in front and converts the try to bring the Joburg side within 7.

TRY! WARATAHS! RAMM! 24-10. It''s a super counter attack from the Waratahs. A loose ball on the 40 metre line is scooped up by Hooper, who has Beale, Maddocks and Newsome in close support. They carry it up field and recycle quickly, shifting it with slick hands out wide to James Ramm who gets the meat pie!
Newsome has his offload intercepted by Tyrone Green. The Lions have a chance to carry it forward. After a few phases, Green gets it back and is tackled into touch at the 22.
Free kick to the Tahs after an early Lions engagement. The Tahs will pack down for a scrum.
Dempsey almost gets an intercept on halfway, with Jantjies floating a ball to nobody in particular. It's a knock on and scrum to the Lions on halfway.
Resolute defence from the Waratahs, who continuously drive the Lions back. The turnover is made near halfway. They look to the box kick which is marked by Coetzee inside the 22.
Jantjies jinks inside and creates some space off the back of the scrum. He throws an offload which is knocked on. Huge opportunity for a try goes begging.
The Waratahs look to run a set play from the scrum but replacement James Ramm can't hang onto the ball. Lions get a centre field scrum on the Waratahs 22.

HALF TIME. WARATAHS 19 - 10 LIONS. Despite 12 phases of rugby inside the Waratahs22, the Lions are unable to take points with them to the shed. The electric start turned into a rather dull affair after the yellow cards from the two sides. The second half is bound to be tightly contested and both sides will fancy their chances of winning.
A strange decision to box kick on the edge of the Waratahs 22. Beale calls for the mark and clears to halfway. The lineout is taken quickly to Ulengo, who is caught upright as the Waratahs force a turnover through a collapsed maul.
The Waratahs come second in this kicking duel, with Nawaqanitawase shanking his kick out at his own 40 metre line.
Beale thumps a clearance kick beyond halfway.
The Lions work some big numbers out wide but somehow butcher the chance, with a knock on at the Waratahs 22.
The Lions win a penalty near halfway which they look to kick to touch. Coetzee is responsible for the kick, with Jantjies still off, and he misses touch.
It's a dreadful kick from Will Harrison, who hooks it well wide.
The Waratahs have possession near halfway but the defence is good from the Lions who are making them work for every metre. After 13 phases, the Tahs only move it just beyond the 40 metre line, but Rass is penalised for offside right in front of goal. Harrison will have a shot at goal.
CONVERSION! LIONS! COETZEE! 19-10. Andries Coetzee takes over the kicking duties with Jantjies having an HIA. He strikes it cleanly and sneaks it inside the left upright.
TRY! LIONS! M SCHOEMAN! 19-8. The Lions set up their devastating rolling maul and rumble over with the greatest of ease!
The Lions kick to touch and find it close to the line. They win another penalty which allows them to put it even closer.
YELLOW CARD! WARATAHS! SWINTON! 19-3. The Lions are awarded a penalty on the Waratahs 40 metre line. The TMO is having a look at potential foul play against Lachlan Swinton. It appears to be a late no-arms shoulder barge to Elton Jantjies. Poor discipline from the Waratahs flanker, who takes a seat on the naughty chair recently vacated by Ruben Schoeman.
A mini kicking duel is ended with an absolutely crushing kick from Maddocks, who finds touch from his 22 about 15 metres inside the Lions half.
Harrison can't convert as he hooks his kick.
TRY! WARATAHS! DEMPSEY! 19-3. It's another try for the Tahs and it's another beauty! They're creating gaps all over the place, with some brilliant quick movement and handling. It's shifted toward the right wing where Newsome throws a good offload over the top to Maddocks, who shifts on to Dempsey in space and he's over in the corner!
PENALTY! LIONS! JANTJIES! 14-3. It''s a smooth strike from Jantjies and sails through the uprights.
Jantjies throws a wild ball out wide to absolutely nobody. Perhaps he knew they had penalty advantage, so he'll have an opportunity to kick at goal from a central position, about 45 metres out.
CONVERSION! WARATAHS! HARRISON! 14-0. Harrison strikes this and turns straight away. It's right through the centre from a touchline conversion attempt.
TRY! WARATAHS! SWINTON! 12-0. World class try. It's an incredible line from the man who scored the first try, Angus Bell. He punches through the middle and deep into the 22. The ball is recycled quickly out wide to Lachlan Swinton who dives over for the try in the corner.
The Waratahs are penalised for an early sack on the lineout. The ref blows and there's a bit of argie bargie! Looks like Ruben Schoeman may have thrown a punch to the face of Rob Simmons on the ground.
YELLOW CARD! LIONS! R SCHOEMAN! 7-0. The penalty is overturned and Ruben Schoeman is sent for 10 minutes in the naughty chair.
A number of changes in possession around halfway. It's eventually a penalty given against Robbie Abel who is off his feet at the ruck on halfway. Jantjies boots to touch just inside the Tahs 22.
CONVERSION! WARATAHS! HARRISON! 7-0. A simple kick first up, and Harrison makes no mistake.
TRY! WARATAHS! BELL! 5-0. Great start from the Waratahs! Michael Hooper runs a wonderful line near the 22. Gordon holds it up just long enough to put him in the gap, and he offloads to Angus Bell who has a clean run to the line for his first Super Rugby try!
The first penalty of the game goes against the Lions on halfway for a side entry by Len Massyn.

The Waratahs are coming off a BYE week in round 4, but have made 2 changes to the side that lost 24-10 to the Rebels in round 3. Swinton comes in for Holloway, while Mark Nawaqanitawase returns from injury to take Cam Clark's spot on the right wing.
The Lions are also coming off a round 4 BYE, but have made four changes to the side that lost after the hooter to the Stormers in round 3. Campher and Sadie come into the front row in place of Jansen and du Plessis respectively, while in the back line, Warner replaces van den Berg at halfback and Jamba Ulengo takes the 11 jersey of Skosan.
Today's referee is Angus Gardner, assisted by Jordan Way and James Quinn, with Ian Smith on TMO duty.
In the 20 meetings between the sides, the Waratahs have won 14 and the Lions 6. The Waratahs have lost only 1 out of 10 games in Sydney, but it was the last meeting between the sides here, where the Lions won 29-0 in 2018.
