FULL-TIME: CHIEFS 19-13 REDS. The Chiefs led 19-6 at the break and they've held on in the second half under relentless pressure. Tupou did manage to power over for the Reds but they were unable to snatch another try to add to that. A defensive masterclass from the hosts but the Australian side can hold their heads up high.

  • 81'

The pressure continues as the Reds win another penalty and set up an attacking lineout with the siren having already sounded. They'll be gutted if they don't make anything of this.

  • 79'

Higginbotham takes from the lineout but the Chiefs halt the driving maul. Yet again, the Reds are forced to build through the phases. The visitors win the advantage and look to get the ball out wide. A pass goes into touch but we go back for the penalty for offside against Kautai.

  • 77'

The Reds set up an attacking lineout and can look to hurt the Chiefs from the maul here.

  • 74'

The number of phases of Reds pressure goes into double digits yet again, but once more, the Chiefs win the ball right on their own try-line and clear. Boshier is the hero for them on defence, not for the first time in the match.

  • 72'

The Reds build up again before Paia'aua stabs a kick through, looking to pick out Campbell. The Chiefs tidy up and boot the ball clear but the Reds come right back at them yet again.

  • 70'

23 phases into the Reds attack, the Chiefs win possession back so close to their own try-line! Brilliant work in defence and the hosts get the ball into touch.

  • 67'

The Reds build up patiently inside Chiefs territory once again, taking the ball through the phases. To be fair to the hosts, they have defended well throughout this game.

  • 64'

The Chiefs lose control of the ball again, this time almost at a significant cost. Campbell is onto it in a flash, kicking it ahead, but the Reds winger can't complete the chase.

  • 61'

We are in the final quarter and errors are creeping into the Chiefs' game. Leasuasu gives away a scrum by making the Chiefs' eighth handling error of the game. The Reds by contrast have only made one.

  • 57'

CONVERSION, REDS, HEGARTY! 19-13: Hegarty puts the Reds back within striking distance and now it's a totally different ball game all of a sudden.

  • 56'

TRY, REDS, TUPOU! 19-11: It's been coming and the Reds finally capitalise on a spell of pressure. 19 phases in, Tupou gets down low and powers over. Game on.

  • 54'

The Reds are still enjoying long spells of possession but not making the most of them. That will need to change as the game nears its final quarter.

  • 51'

The Reds build up the pressure again only for Gardner to blow in the hosts' favour at the maul. It's a scrum for the Chiefs.

  • 48'

The Chiefs are penalised for offside and Hegarty puts the ball into touch. The Reds win the lineout and go for the kick through, which bounces up off a Chiefs player and gives the visitors an opportunity. They move close to the Chiefs' try-line but are eventually dragged out of play. The hosts look to run the ball out from trouble.

  • 45'

The Chiefs knock the ball on as they look to break through the Reds defence and the visitors can breathe.

  • 44'

McDermott puts yet another kick out on the full to hand the Chiefs possession inside the Reds' half. That's not the first time in this game.

  • 41'

The Chiefs get the second half underway. They're in a good position but this game isn't wrapped up yet.

  • 40'

TRY, CHIEFS, NANAI-SETURO! 17-6: A scrappy set piece eventually leads to a try as the Chiefs clean up and move the ball wide to Nanai-Seturo, who finishes off. The Reds seem to think there was a forward pass in the build-up but Gardner disagrees and the try is awarded!

  • 40'

CONVERSION, CHIEFS, M. MCKENZIE! 19-6: Good kick from the fly-half. No mistake from out near the left touchline.

  • 40'

HALF-TIME: CHIEFS 19-6 REDS. The Reds have enjoyed lengthy spells of pressure but the Chiefs have remained in the driving seat due to some really clinical, effective rugby. Tries from Sowakula, Moli and Nanai-Seturo send the hosts into the break ahead.

  • 37'

The Chiefs look to hit the Reds on the break with a dangerous counter-attack. A pass goes astray but the hosts have a penalty for a dangerous tackle, which Marty McKenzie puts into touch.

  • 34'

PENALTY, REDS, HEGARTY! 12-6: Hegarty slots a simple kick over and reduces the Chiefs' lead to less than a converted try.

  • 33'

The Reds build up the pressure again on attack and they win the advantage. Mafi thinks he has grounded the ball over the try line and Gardner's on-field decision is a try. He's going upstairs to check.

  • 33'

No try due to a double movement once again! However, we go back for a Reds penalty for offside. The visitors will go for posts.

  • 30'

The Reds work the ball through nearly 20 phases again before the Chiefs win the turnover right on their try-line through Cane. Fantastic defence once again from the home side.

  • 27'

Relief for the Reds this time as they win the ball back and scramble it away.

  • 26'

The Reds look to run their way out from their own 22, but that backfires as they lose possession at the ruck. The visitors are under pressure once again.

  • 24'

Marty McKenzie's conversion attempt bounces away off the post and FMG Stadium lets out a collective groan.

  • 23'

TRY, CHIEFS, MOLI! 12-3: The Chiefs work the ball through the phases as they look to force their way over. Cane comes up just short, but Moli goes over after some clever hands from Harris. Gardner goes upstairs to look for a knock-on but there's none!

  • 20'

The Chiefs go for the kick in behind after Cane wins a turnover for them at the breakdown, but the Reds scramble back and get to the ball first.

  • 18'

McDermott tries a tactical kick for the Reds but puts the ball out on the full, gifting the Chiefs a lineout just inside enemy territory. The scrum-half shakes his head; he's disappointed with himself and rightly so.

  • 16'

The Reds have responded well to the early Chiefs try and they get inside the 22. They then look to move the ball out wide but the Chiefs are quick out in defence to pressure them and halt their momentum.

  • 13'

PENALTY, REDS, HEGARTY! 7-3: Hegarty makes no mistake, reducing the Chiefs' early lead to four points after what has been an eventful start to this game.

  • 12'

  • 10'

CONVERSION, CHIEFS, M. MCKENZIE! 7-0: Marty McKenzie adds the extras for the Chiefs, curling his conversion inside the posts.

  • 9'

TRY, CHIEFS, SOWAKULA! 5-0: The Chiefs draw first blood at last! Alaimalo gives the ball to Marty McKenzie, who feeds Sowakula for the finish! The pressure pays off in Waikato.

  • 8'

The Chiefs appear undeterred and continue to pile the pressure on. Marty McKenzie dabs the ball ahead but the Reds are first onto it.

  • 6'

TRY DISALLOWED! 0-0: The Chiefs enjoy a spell on attack now after earning themselves a lineout right on the Reds' 22. They're very quick in moving the ball out wide towards the left corner where Nanai-Seturo finishes. Gardner goes upstairs, and unbelievably, the try is disallowed for a knock-on. That's a very controversial call.

  • 4'

The Reds are doing the early attacking at the FMG Stadium. They've taken the ball through 19 phases and camped near the try-line. Have they got it over finally? Angus Gardner stops play and goes upstairs to TMO Glenn Newman to check.

  • 4'

TRY DISALLOWED! 0-0: The on-field decision was a try but it's been overruled due to a double movement. The Reds are penalised for not releasing the ball and the Chiefs clear into touch.
