HALF-TIME: CHIEFS 19-6 REDS. The Reds have enjoyed lengthy spells of pressure but the Chiefs have remained in the driving seat due to some really clinical, effective rugby. Tries from Sowakula, Moli and Nanai-Seturo send the hosts into the break ahead.
The Chiefs look to hit the Reds on the break with a dangerous counter-attack. A pass goes astray but the hosts have a penalty for a dangerous tackle, which Marty McKenzie puts into touch.
PENALTY, REDS, HEGARTY! 12-6: Hegarty slots a simple kick over and reduces the Chiefs' lead to less than a converted try.
The Reds build up the pressure again on attack and they win the advantage. Mafi thinks he has grounded the ball over the try line and Gardner's on-field decision is a try. He's going upstairs to check.

The Chiefs go for the kick in behind after Cane wins a turnover for them at the breakdown, but the Reds scramble back and get to the ball first.
McDermott tries a tactical kick for the Reds but puts the ball out on the full, gifting the Chiefs a lineout just inside enemy territory. The scrum-half shakes his head; he's disappointed with himself and rightly so.
The Reds have responded well to the early Chiefs try and they get inside the 22. They then look to move the ball out wide but the Chiefs are quick out in defence to pressure them and halt their momentum.
PENALTY, REDS, HEGARTY! 7-3: Hegarty makes no mistake, reducing the Chiefs' early lead to four points after what has been an eventful start to this game.
Nankivell is penalised in a kickable position and Hegarty has the chance to put the Reds on the board.
