Commentary
  • 81'

FULL-TIME: STORMERS 17-19 BRUMBIES. A magnificent defensive display sees the Brumbies clinch a narrow win over the Stormers at Newlands. The hosts will be kicking themselves for that but they need to do better. The Brumbies keep their hopes of topping the Aussie conference very much alive.

  • 77'

The Stormers look to launch a counter-attack but Kolisi is dragged into touch by three Brumbies. The pile of bodies collides with a camera man and knocks him over, but he appears to see the funny side. Fair play.

  • 74'

The Brumbies have done exceptionally well to fend the Stormers off. Samu got his hands on the ball to end the spell of pressure and they've won themselves a penalty now against Johan du Toit for offside.

  • 70'

The Stormers continue to heap pressure on the Brumbies, who are holding out well on defence. Nick Briant blows for the scrum though.

  • 67'

The Stormers continue to push as they look to regain the lead. Stander looks to pick out Leyds or Willemse with a cross-kick, but neither can gather. We go back for a penalty, from which the Stormers set up the lineout.

  • 63'

A poor kick from Stander misses the mark. The Stormers are still behind.

  • 62'

The Stormers have won a scrum penalty against Slipper after his elbow went down, and at long last, they've decided to go for posts.

  • 59'

CONVERSION, BRUMBIES, LEALIIFANO! 17-19: Lealiifano puts the Brumbies back in front with a good kick from their left side.

  • 58'

TRY, BRUMBIES, BANKS! 17-17: A patient build-up from the Brumbies ends with a wide pass to Banks on the left. The fullback goes over for the easiest of finishes!

  • 57'

Getting back up to 15 men appears to have given a little bit of momentum back to the Brumbies. They're on the attack again now.

  • 52'

TRY DISALLOWED! Ruhan Nel looks to get the ball down for a try in the left corner. Nick Briant thinks he's scored but a TMO review overturns his initial decision. Great cover defence by Henry Speight, who forced Nel into touch.

  • 50'

The Stormers heap pressure on the Brumbies once more but eventually lose the ball to the visitors this time. It will soon be 15 men apiece again.

  • 47'

CONVERSION, STORMERS, STANDER! 17-12: Stander extends the Stormers' lead to five points!

  • 46'

TRY, STORMERS, LOUW! 15-12: After a sustained build-up, Louw powers over, making amends for his knock-on in the build-up to the earlier disallowed try! The decision to go for the lineout is vindicated!

  • 44'

The Stormers win a penalty against Speight for hands in the ruck. It's very kickable once again, but Kitshoff opts for the lineout.

  • 41'

PENALTY TRY, STORMERS! 10-12: YELLOW CARD, BRUMBIES, PULU! Jantjies goes on a magnificent run, beating several defenders, but he is stopped just short of the try line by Pulu. The Brumbies boot the ball into touch for half-time but a TMO review shows Pulu's tacke was high. What drama at the end of the first half at Newlands. Brumbies players had to be called out of the tunnel for the half-time whistle to be overturned!

  • 41'

    HALF-TIME: STORMERS 10-12 BRUMBIES.

  • 41'

The Stormers get the match back underway. They'll be looking to use their numerical advantage to turn this game on its head having been handed a lifeline at the end of the first half.

  • 39'

The clock ticks down on the first half and one player who deserves a mention is Jahrome Brown. He has won some crucial turnovers for the Brumbies on his first start.

  • 36'

The Stormers have been on the front foot lately but haven't capitalised at all. Perhaps they might end up regretting all their missed chances to kick at posts.

  • 33'

A Kitshoff knock-on affords the Brumbies an opportunity to clear. Fainga'a returns from his HIA having passed, but it looks as if Wiese is not going to play any further part today.

  • 32'

Lealiifano is warned by Briant about the Brumbies' persistent defensive infringements.

  • 29'

TRY DISALLOWED! After several phases and several defensive infringements, Moerat forces his way over for what looks like his first Stormers try. However, Nick Briant goes upstairs and finds a knock-on from Wilco Louw in the build-up! Still 3-12 but we go back for a Stormers penalty.

  • 28'

The Stormers find themselves in a great attacking position and Leyds kicks into space. However, the Stormers aren't able to get onto the end of it and it rolls beyond the dead-ball line. We go back for the penalty and the Stormers set up the attacking lineout, which they win.

  • 25'

Willemse is penalised for kicking the ball away after it had gone into touch following protests from Tom Banks.

  • 22'

Wiese goes off to have a HIA and is replaced by Kolisi. Fainga'a is also having a HIA having butted heads with Wiese and Mann-Rea comes on in his place.

  • 20'

The Stormers win the scrum but don't really make up any ground. Brown then rips the ball away.

  • 19'

The Stormers go for the scrum, win another penalty in front of the posts, and go for the scrum again. Brave call, that.

  • 16'

A great kick from Stander has got the Stormers on the front foot and there's a penalty advantage against Rory Arnold for offside... And we come back for the penalty.

  • 15'

The Brumbies go on the attack once again but they lose the ball forward. The Stormers need to halt this run of momentum from the away side.

  • 12'

CONVERSION, BRUMBIES, LEALIIFANO! 3-12: Lealiifano extends the lead beyond a converted try, putting the away side firmly in the ascendancy.

  • 10'

TRY, BRUMBIES, RORY ARNOLD! 3-10: What an incredible spell of rugby! Arnold charges down Jantjies' kick and goes in for the try! The Stormers are their own worst enemies again.

  • 9'

PENALTY, STORMERS, STANDER! 3-5: Stander puts the Stormers on the board from the kicking tee shortly after the try.

  • 8'

Lealiifano's conversion attempt from the left is a poor one and the score remains 0-5.

  • 7'

TRY, BRUMBIES, SAMU! 0-5: The Brumbies launch an attack now. Arnold gets the ball out wide and Samu looks to ground in the left corner. It looks close, but referee Nick Briant's on-field decision of try is vindicated by a TMO review. The Brumbies draw first blood!

  • 5'

Good work from the Brumbies on defence as Brown gets the Stormers penalised for not releasing. Ruhan Nel receives a bit of medical attention on the field but he's ok.

  • 3'

The Stormers have got this match off to a good start. They're doing the early attacking at Newlands and have set up camp inside the visitors' half.

  • 1'

KICK-OFF! Lealiifano gets the match underway after referee Nick Briant blows his whistle. This is a vital match for both teams.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of this Super Rugby clash between the Stormers and the Brumbies at DHL Newlands. Incredibly, although the Stormers are bottom of the SA conference, they can go level with first-placed Bulls should they win today, while the Brumbies can move level with second-placed Waratahs in the Aussie Conference although they currently sit fourth.
