Cape Town - EFC bantamweight king JP Buys will battle interim champion Luthando Biko for undisputed honours at GrandWest Arena in Cape Town on Saturday, April 13.
Buys (6-2) will be making his return to the hexagon after a year’s absence, having beat Gamzat Magomedov (3-1) via disqualification in the Bahrain-based MMA promotion Brave Combat Federation in Pakistan in October 2018 in the meanwhile.
The Coach Quan University standout and accomplished wrestler won the strap by submitting Frenchman Philippe Rouch (7-4) with a first round guillotine choke in his previous EFC outing.
Biko (5-1), a decorated judoka hailing from Chris Bright’s camp in Port Elizabeth, claimed EFC interim gold by dominating Englishman Cal Ellenor (7-2), who has since been signed by Bellator MMA, over five frames at GrandWest Arena in November last year.
The EFC’s first card of 2019 will be at Time Square in Pretoria on March 16.
It will be headlined by former lightweight champ Martin van Staden (26-11) up against Joe Cummins (5-1) for the vacant belt.
