Police members find hidden ammunition on Northern Cape farm

A police search led to the discovery of hundreds of rounds of ammunition buried on a farm near Keimoes in the Northern Cape.

The police are not ruling out the possibility of more ammunition and firearms being hidden in the area.

Sgt Timothy Sam, police spokesperson, said police members in Keimoes received information from the public of possible illegal and suspicious ammunition buried on a farm near the Lutzputs Road close to town.

On Wednesday, 3 April, the police assembled an operational team comprising of detectives, and members of the Crime Prevention and K9 units, to search the area.

The search led the team to 350 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and 200 rounds of LMG caliber ammunition.

No suspects were arrested yet and police are requesting anyone who might have information about the source of this ammunition to contact the toll-free line 08600 10111 or send an SMS anonymously to 32211, or use MySAPS App.
