  • Sun City’s Valley of Waves will be closed between 13 May until 21 June.

Guests and day visitors to one of South Africa’s most popular water theme parks, the Valley of Waves at Sun City Resort in the North West, are advised to get their last splashes in before the park's annual closure.

The park will close from 13 May until 21 June for annual maintenance ahead of the June school holidays.

"While our water park closes annually to ensure that it remains in a world-class condition, guests need not fear, Sun City has a long list of other fun water sports and activities available for the whole family," said resort general manager Brett Hoppé.   

"The man-made Waterworld Lake alone offers more activities than can be done in a day. Whether you prefer to ski, cruise or glide over water you can do it all, located in front of the rolling lawns of the Cabanas Hotel."

Sun City's Valley of the Waves water theme park is a magnet for families and school-going children alike, especially during holidays. Families are drawn to this aquatic paradise for a myriad of reasons.

Firstly, it offers a diverse range of attractions suitable for all ages, from thrilling water slides and wave pools to more relaxed lazy rivers and sandy beaches. This ensures that every member of the family, regardless of age or preference, can find something enjoyable to do.

Secondly, the Valley of the Waves provides a safe and supervised environment, giving parents peace of mind while their children splash and play.

Lifeguards are stationed throughout the park to ensure the safety of all visitors, allowing families to relax and unwind without worry. Moreover, the resort's picturesque setting amidst lush greenery and cascading waterfalls creates a tranquil and scenic backdrop for family outings and bonding moments.

Valley of the Waves attractions

The water park has several attractions for different family members to enjoy including the Roaring Lagoon, a 70m drop at the Temple of Courage, the Tarantula and the Scorpion body slides and the Viper and Mamba tube rides.

Those who enjoy obstacle courses can try the elevated the Chimp & Zee Rope Adventure Park which boasts high balancing beams, speedy zip lines, hanging spider nets, jungle rope bridges and much more, in and around the water park.

For those who prefer to linger, there's the sun lounger beneath the palm trees or enjoy a cocktail and a snack at the beach bar with a designated children’s area and rides for visitors with children. 

Other noteworthy attraction include the jet skis, the water snake ride, water-skiing, wakeboarding, parasailing and a private boat cruise for either a 30 minutes or an hour.
