She's been in showbiz for many years and she wears many hats, she's a mother, an actress and a creative producer for eTV's House of Zwide, where also plays Dorothy.

In an exclusive interview with Drum, Brenda Mukwevho reveals plans to tie the knot this year. "Please, you must cover my wedding this year, as I'm getting married," she jokes.

Brenda has overcome the stereotypes of working in a male-dominated industry such as the entertainment industry and, although she juggles acting and creative producing, she tells us that she would choose the latter if she were forced to choose.

"If I were to be forced to choose between acting and creative producing, I'd choose producing. I've taken time out from acting to focus on producing and this is happening at the right time for me," she says.

She bemoans the lack of knowledge that women have about opportunities available in the industry, saying she wants to champion leading women into different spheres within showbiz.

"Women don't have knowledge about career opportunities available within the entertainment industry. I mean, you can be a director, a colourist, an editor, an producer of your story."

"There's more to TV than just being in front of it," Brenda insists, adding that young women need to take advantage of such opportunities.

Some challenges associated with her job as both an actress and producer are commonplace with women who do the kind of work she does.

"I'm a mother and it's difficult to be a parent when you have long days like I do on set, but I'm always lucky to end up working with production companies that understand that I'm a mother, a human being and I always want everything to run smoothly in all aspects of my life," the actress tells us.

As life imitates art for Brenda whose character Dorothy is undergoing marriage, she assures fans of the show to stay glued to their TVs, because there are more important stories that will be told.

"We tell stories that resonate with people, stories of financial difficulties, which most people can relate to, especially in this economy."
