ICC supports decision to cancel NZ v Bangladesh Test

Cape Town - The ICC has backed the decision to cancel the third Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh after Friday's mosque attacks in Christchurch.

"A joint decision between NZC and the @BCBtigers has been made to cancel the Hagley Oval Test," the New Zealand team tweeted.

The third and final Test was scheduled to start on Saturday at Christchurch's Hagley Oval.

Bangladeshi players and team staff arrived at the city's Masjid al Noor mosque for Friday prayers just after the shootings had begun and the team was warned not to go inside.

"Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the families and friends of those affected by this horrendous incident in Christchurch," ICC chief executive Dave Richardson said in a statement on Friday.

"Both teams, staff and match officials are safe and the ICC fully supports the decision to cancel the Test match."
