Wednesday, 8 May, marked the annual commemoration of Ancestor's Day, an unofficial "holiday day" observed by various cultural organisations, including the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (Contralesa) and the National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders (NHTKL).
While most South Africans might not be aware of the existence of Ancestor's Day, the day is aimed at honouring ancestors and reflecting on the importance of African spirituality.
