Wozniacki breezes through NY Marathon

Cape Town - Caroline Wozniacki was ecstatic after her impressive time in her maiden marathon on Sunday.

The Danish sensation braved the chilly conditions to complete the New York marathon in 3:26:33, beating her goal of three and half hours.

"It was incredible," revealed the 24-year-old on Sky Sports.

"I'm so happy to have done this. I'm so proud. Now I have this medal. I can say that I've done the New York City Marathon. I've even done it at a cool time. So I'm really, really happy.

"I've never tried anything this hard. This is like toughest physical test ever. It was so hard. You have to keep going."

Despite having a busy season that ended just last week at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore, where she lost in the semi-finals against eventual winner Serena Williams, she went ahead with the race. As a result, her preparation was not ideal.

"I've done everything you are not supposed to do before a marathon," added Wozniacki.

"I had a Halloween party three days ago and came back at four in the morning. I've been really busy. Last night, I actually didn't have much of a dinner because I went to the (New York) Rangers game. You are supposed to load up on carbs, but I didn't have too much time for that."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
