London - Czech 10th seed Tomas Berdych downed compatriot Jiri Vesely 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10/8), 6-7 (9/11), 6-3 to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Berdych, the 2010 runner-up, finally claimed victory on an eighth match point after squandering five on Monday when the fourth round tie was suspended shortly after sunset once Vesely won the fourth set tie-breaker.
Berdych will face French 32nd seed Lucas Pouille on Wednesday for a place in the semi-finals.
