Anderson cruises at Wimbledon


London - Kevin Anderson coasted into the second round of Wimbledon on Monday with a straight sets victory over Belgian veteran Olivier Rochus.

The SA men's No 1 secured a 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 win over Rochus, who was playing his 14th successive Wimbledon tournament, in the first round of the men's singles competition.

Anderson next faces Poland's Michal Przysiezny in the second round on Thursday. Przysiezny upset Germany's Philipp Petzschner 6-3, 7-6 (8/6), 6-0 in his first match.

South Africa's top-ranked women's player, Chanelle Scheepers, was set to face Italian 11th seed Roberta Vinci in the opening round of the women's singles later on Tuesday.
