Parmentier wins in Istanbul to end 10-year title drought

Paris -Frenchwoman Pauline Parmentier ended her 10-year wait for a third WTA title by beating Polona Hercog 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in Sunday's final in Istanbul.

The 32-year-old last won a tournament in Bad Gastein in July 2008, but overcame a second-set blip to edge out Slovenia's Hercog at the clay-court event.

Parmentier, the world number 122, had got past Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki earlier in the week when the Dane retired injured and was playing in just the third final of her 18-year professional career.
