Mother Maria wins first WTA title

Santa Pona - Germany's Tatjana Maria clinched her first career title at the age of 30 on Sunday by beating Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova 6-4, 7-5 in the Mallorca WTA grasscourt final.

Maria, ranked at 79 and who gave birth to a daughter in 2013, was playing in her first final but made a mockery of the 59 spots between her and Sevastova in the world rankings to triumph in the Wimbledon warm-up event.
