Hong Kong - Rain returned just as the weather-delayed WTA Hong Kong Open final between Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Daria Gavrilova was due to begin at 8.30pm (13:30 SA Time) on Sunday.
The players emerged on to the hastily dried Victoria Park centre court to warm up just as spots of rain frustratingly reappeared.
"There's no way," the Russian world number 21 Pavlyuchenkova said to an official, referring to the chances of beginning the warm-up safely. The players left the court again under steady light rain.
Typhoon Khanun, packing winds of 155 kilometres per hour (97 miles per hour) and heavy rain, had passed close to the southern Chinese city earlier on Sunday.
Much of Hong Kong came to a near-standstill for most of the day.
But the weather relented at around 7pm, allowing organisers to try to dry the centre court for the final which had originally been due to start at 4:30 pm.
Organisers said they could not guarantee that the match would be played at all Sunday given the unsettled weather.
