Scheepers into Gastein last 8

Bad Gastein - South Africa's Chanelle Scheepers has rallied to beat defending champion Yvonne Meusburger 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the second round of the Gastein Ladies on Thursday.

Scheepers lost the opening set from 4-2 up before taking control against the sixth-seeded Austrian.

Rain interrupted play for an hour at 2-2 in the final set before Scheepers reeled off four straight games to close out the victory.

Scheepers next plays Sara Errani, who reached her eighth quarter-final of the season and first since the French Open by defeating Paula Ormaechea of Argentina 6-3, 6-0.

The second-seeded Italian, who won the doubles at Wimbledon last week, was broken twice in the opening set but conceded only four points on serve in the second.

Earlier, Shelby Rogers of the United States routed the 16th-ranked Carla Suarez Navarro 6-4, 6-0 to reach her first career WTA quarterfinal.
