Berlin - Romania's Simona Halep has moved second behind Serena Williams in the WTA tennis rankings released on Monday.
Halep, who last month won the Indian Wells Masters for her third title of the year, changes places with Russia's Maria Sharapova.
Williams has 9 981 points, with Halep on 7 755 and Sharapova, who went out in the second round of the just-ended Stuttgart tournament to winner Angelique Kerber of Germany, on 7 525.
Canada's Eugenie Bouchard advanced a place to sixth, while Serbia's Ana Ivanovic dropped to seventh.
