Bouchard gets help from Connors

New York - Eugenie Bouchard is getting a little help from Jimmy Connors ahead of the US Open.

A statement issued by Bouchard's management company on Thursday said the Canadian and Connors have "no long-term plans at this time" for a coaching arrangement.

The statement said Bouchard, the 2014 runner-up at Wimbledon, and Connors, an eight-time major champion, "have been friends for a few years" and that the two are working together this week while Connors is in New York.

Connors coached Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova in the past - although he worked with Sharapova for all of one match in 2013.

The US Open starts on Monday.

The 25th-seeded Bouchard was drawn to play Alison Riske of the United States in the first round.

Bouchard, who recently stopped working with coach Sam Sumyk, has only won three of her past 17 matches, with first-round losses at Wimbledon and the French Open.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
