Sharapova rolls into last 16 at US Open

New York - Russia's Maria Sharapova, in her first Grand Slam event since a 15-month doping ban, advanced to the fourth round of the US Open on Friday by defeating 139th-ranked US teen Sofia Kenin 7-5, 6-2.

The five-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one, now ranked 146th, will try to claim a place in the quarter-finals on Sunday against Latvian 16th seed Anastasija Sevastova.
