To the tune of a minimum of $54 000 (R770 000) after the 21-year-old South African played in his maiden Grand Slam at this year's US Open at Flushing Meadows, which started in the Big Apple on Monday.
Harris came through the qualifying rounds to book his spot in the 128-man main draw at the year's final Grand Slam.
In his first-round match on Monday, Harris fell 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 to Frenchman Gilles Simon.
Harris will nevertheless be pleased with his efforts in a season in which he has improved his ATP Tour ranking to a current career high 145th.
Meanwhile, Harris' compatriot, Kevin Anderson, reached the second round after beating America's Ryan Harrison in five sets.
This assured Anderson of at least $93 000 (R1.325 million) by making the second round.
The eventual winner will take home a staggering $3 800 000 (R54 million).
