Cape Town - World No 1 Novak Djokovic gave the crowd something to cheer about after defeating Poland's Jerzy Janowicz 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of the US Open on Monday.
The two-time US Open winner broke out into song and dance after his win over Janowicz in a post-match interview on Arthur Ashe Stadium court.
Before the start of Djokovic’s match, singer Phil Collins opened the year’s final major with a performance of his 1984 hit song ‘Easy Lover’.
The 29-year-old Djokovic then explained how Collins' performance was a tough act to follow, which led him to sing another Collins song ‘I Can’t Dance', with the crowd applauding and roaring.
Prior to the start of the tournament, Djokovic admitted that he wasn’t 100 percent after suffering a wrist injury at the Rio Olympic Games, where he lost to Argentina's Juan Martin Del Potro in the first round.
The Serbian, who is the defending US Open champion, will play Czech Republic’s Jiri Vesley in the second round of the tournament.
