Halep survives US Open scare

New York - Romanian second seed Simona Halep survived a scare against unranked American amateur Danielle Collins to reach the US Open second round on Monday.

Halep won 6-7 (2/7), 6-1, 6-2 against the 20-year-old Florida university student and next faces Jana Cepelova of Slovakia for a spot in the third round.
