Federer cuts Isner down to size

New York - Swiss second seed Roger Federer advanced to his 11th US Open quarter-final on Monday by defeating American 13th seed John Isner 7-6 (7/0), 7-6 (8/6), 7-5.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion will play French 12th seed Richard Gasquet - who eliminated Czech sixth seed Tomas Berdych 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 -- on Wednesday for a semi-final berth.
