Robson cruises in Shenzhen

Shenzhen - Seventh-seeded Laura Robson of Britain cruised into the second round of the Shenzhen Open on Sunday, beating Edina Gallovits-Hall of Romania 6-2, 6-1 in her first match of the season.

The 18-year-old Robson won 80 percent of points on her first serve while her 107th-ranked opponent double-faulted eight times, and the Briton wrapped up the win in just under an hour.

Fourth-seeded Hsieh Su-wei of Taiwan also advanced easily, beating Melina Czhink of Hungary 6-3, 6-2. Hsieh broke her opponent twice in the first set and four times in the second to win in 1 hour, 15 minutes.

In Sunday's other matches, Annika Beck of Germany beat Garbine Muguruza of Spain 6-2, 6-7 (7/9), 6-4, and Monica Niculescu of Romania ousted Chinese wildcard entry Saisai Zheng 6-4, 7-5.
