Ferrer triumphs in Valencia

Valencia - David Ferrer of Spain won the Valencia Open for the third time by beating Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 on Sunday.

The top-seeded Ferrer recovered from two breakpoints down at 3-3 in the third set to hold, and he made the decisive break to clinch the title when Dolgopolov sent a shot into the net.

It was the fifth-ranked Ferrer's sixth title of the season and 17th in his career.

Ferrer also won on the hard courts at the City of Arts and Sciences in 2008 and 2010. He lost the final in 2005 when the tournament was played on clay.
