Djokovic splits with coach

Monaco - Novak Djokovic confirmed on Monday that his experiment with dual coaching has been ended with the departure of American Todd Martin from his team.

The Serb ranked second in the world took on the former player from Illinois before the US Open last summer, to work with regular longtime mentor Marian Vajda.

The pair coached Djokovic in a tag-team effort, with Martin concentrating on the North American events while leaving Europe to Slovak Vajda, himself a former ATP competitor.

Djokovic revealed at the Monte Carlo Masters that the plan had not worked out with Martin, runner-up at the US and Australian Opens over his 14-year career.

"That's the news, I'm no longer working with Todd Martin. Todd found it difficult to understand who I am, how I like to work.

"It seems there will always be a problem having two coaches. Todd has specific ideas on some issues to work but I will not tell you.

"There were no major problems, but changes in my service did not work out. It was a good experience and I'm not sorry for it."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
