Wozniacki caught off-guard by McIlroy comments

Cape Town - Caroline Wozniacki was surprised by Rory McIlroy's comments about his current relationship with fiancé Erica Stoll.

The Northern Irishman was quite outspoken in a recent interview with the Irish Independant, where he let slip some details he did not enjoy about his relationship with Wozniacki.

"The thing I love about it, is that we were friends before anything romantic happened," said McIlroy, who called off his engagement to the tennis star at the 11th hour in 2014.

"We met when she was working for the PGA of America, and renting a condo in Palm Beach, and I found it refreshing being with someone who was living a normal life rather than, 'Oh! My jet is 30 minutes late!'

"I don't feel Erica wants to change me in any way. I can be myself around her; there's no bulls***, no acting, no show."

A surprised Wozniacki - who breezed through to the third round of the Australian Open on Thursday - was asked what she thought of the comments by the Daily Mirror.

"I saw it alright, but I do not really have anything to say... was I surprised? Yes," quipped the Dane.

"It's a little dead by now. It is three years ago, so I don't understand why he keeps bringing it up. I don’t think there is any reason to.

"He looks like he is a good place in his life, so he surely he must move on."
