Justin Bieber tweets Bouchard!

Melbourne - Eugenie Bouchard said she was happy to receive a tweet from her favourite popstar, fellow Canadian Justin Bieber, ahead of her semi-final against Li Na.

"I was excited," smiled the teenager.

Bieber's message, "Good luck Genie!" was re-tweeted thousands of times.

It followed an on-court interview when Bouchard answered "Justin Bieber" when she was asked who she would date if she had the choice.

Australian broadcaster Channel 7 rejected a comment in Canadian media that the question was sexist.

"We try to give an insight into personalities," a statement from the broadcaster said, according to the Herald Sun.

Unfortunately for Bouchard she lost her semi-final match 6-2, 6-4 to Na.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
