Woodbridge believes Federer won't win another Grand Slam

Former doubles champion Todd Woodbridge believes the enforced coronavirus break has ended the possibility of Roger Federer winning another Grand Slam title.

The Australian former doubles star believes that a long break from tennis due to the coronavirus crisis will make it just too difficult for Federer to retain his edge and motivation.

Federer turns 39-years-old later this year and is currently out injured due to some minor knee surgery anyway.

However, he as planning on returning to play the grass-court season as well as the Olympics, US Open, and Laver Cup among other tournaments scheduled for the end of this year.

Woodbridge, though, believes age may finally catch up with Federer before tennis can return.

"The question that Roger will have to ask himself is how motivated is he to come back for another year?" Woodbridge told AAP.

"Or has this actually helped him? The less match play that you get in this period at that age, it's so much harder to come back and recover once you start again.

"So I really think that post-2020 will be a new era of people trying to create records because it'll have really have broken up a great period in tennis.

"It has stopped the potential, I think, of Federer winning one or two Majors more. It becomes very highly unlikely for him."
