The big-serving South Africa, who made the final of the US Open in 2017, is through to the quarter-finals of the Indian tournament as he continues his preparations for the Australian Open on January 15.

Anderson progressed to last eight by beating Brazilian Thiego Monteiro, who was forced to retire with an injury.

And, after the match, Anderson grabbed a cricket bat and started hitting balls into the crowd.

He later confirmed that he had appointed Brad Stine as his new coach for the 2018 season.
