Starry-eyed Tsonga becomes a father

Paris - French tennis No 1 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga announced the birth of his first child on Friday posting a classic maternity ward photo and message on Twitter.

"With stars in my eyes, I'm delighted to announce the birth of our son," read a message beneath a snap of the tennis ace nervously smiling with the swaddled baby in his arms.

The 31-year-old world No 10 - winner of back-to-back tournaments at Marseille and Rotterdam in February - pulled out of the Miami tournament a week ago to be present for the birth alongside his partner Noura El Shwekh.

France captain Yannick Noah is hoping to convince Tsonga to play in the Davis Cup quarter-final tie against Great Britain in Rouen from April 7-9.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
