SA's Harris ousted by Querrey at New York Open

Uniondale - Rising South African tennis talent Lloyd Harris lost to American Sam Querrey in the first round of the New York Open on Tuesday (Wednesday morning SA time).

The big-serving Querrey proved too strong for the 21-year-old Harris, who is currently ranked 98th on the ATP Tour rankings and a rising star who made it through qualifiers to compete in last year's US Open and this year's Australian Open.

Querrey, the world No 49, will next face either Croat Ivo Karlovic or Moldovan Radu Albot, who play their first round match on Wednesday.

South Africa's Kevin Anderson is the defending champion at the event but had to pull out due to an elbow injury.
