SA's Harris beaten in French Open qualifying

Cape Town - Rising South African tennis sensation, Lloyd Harris, was beaten in the first round of qualifying at the French Open on Monday.

The 21-year-old Capetonian lost 6-4, 6-3 to Canadian teenager Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is a former US Open junior champion.

Harris, ranked 213 this week on the ATP singles rankings, was playing in his first Grand Slam qualifying event.

Two South Africans will however be in charge in the main draw of the French Open.

In the men’s singles, Kevin Anderson is the sixth seed, while in the men’s doubles, Raven Klaasen and his New Zealand partner Michael Venus, will pair up.

Klaasen is currently ranked 31st on the ATP rankings for men’s doubles.
