Murray in need of a break

London - Following an intense Davis Cup weekend, Andy Murray revealed his schedule of late is taking its toll on his body.

Despite being involved in two wins against Argentina over the weekend, the Scot was unable to inspire Britain to a vital win that would have seen them advance to the World Group final and keep their hopes of defending their title alive.

The Davis Cup loss caps off a hectic few months for Murray, where he played at Wimbledon, the Rio Olympic Games, Cincinnati and the US Open before returning home to Glasgow to play in the semi-final.

Two out of his last three matches have gone to five sets, further testing his endurance.

"I have played so much tennis in the last few months, I need a break and I need it now," the 29-year-old was quoted as saying by The Times.

"I knew I was going to be in some pain this weekend and I spoke to my team about that it was going to be really hard. But my expectations were less than what I'm feeling now."

During his straight set win over Guido Pella, Murray was forced to go off court for treatment to his upper thigh, which was a concern for him.

"I've never really had any muscle injuries before," he added.

"That was worrying for me and thankfully I managed to get it done in straight sets."

Murray is scheduled to play at the China Open in Beijing which starts on October 3, where he is the second seed behind Novak Djokovic.
