Cape Town - Daniil Medvedev says that he is unhappy with some of his behaviour despite his remarkable success this summer that catapulted him up the rankings.
The Russian won his first Masters-level title and this summer and reached his first Grand Slam final - which turned into an epic with Rafael Nadal which he eventually lost.
However, Medvedev gained other, less favourable headlines over the course of the summer, mainly due to 'trolling' fans at Flushing Meadows, and he says he looks back on it with regret.
"I try to think still most about tennis, and I think I have done it very well regarding especially my results, even after the stories," Medvedev told reporters at the Shanghai Masters.
"Of course tennis is the most important thing, but I'm also taking care of my behaviour.
"I'm not happy with what I have done, I said it like a million times, but I hope it won't happen again."
Medvedev has kept a relatively low profile since losing to Nadal and climbing to number four in the world, but he says that was mainly down to nursing some injury problems.
"I had some pain in my quadriceps, so I needed to take some time off," he explained.
"I think my body is back in shape. I arrived quite early in Shanghai to get used to the conditions, to the jet lag and everything.
"Hopefully I can be 100 percent on my first match."
