Federer relishing clay-court return, says coach

Cape Town - Roger Federer's fitness coach, Pierre Paganini, says the Swiss star "is like a child going on his first school trip" as he prepares to make his clay-court return.

Federer has not played clay season in recent years due to concerns over his scheduling, but is set to make a much anticipated return in Madrid next week ahead of the French Open.

And he is buzzing about it, says his fitness coach.

"He is like a child going on his first school trip," Pagnini told Blick.

"It's great to see this enthusiasm, it has a positive impact on the quality of the practice sessions.

"In Roger, the enthusiasm is always the same as the ambition and vice versa.

"I think Roger can get great results on any surface. He goes to every tournament as if it were the first and the last."
