Djokovic: 'I'm sure the ATP Cup will be a blast'

Cape Town - World No. 2 Novak Djokovic is relishing a return to the scene of his first grand slam win in Melbourne, and expects the ATP Cup to provide a "great show" for tennis fans.

Djokovic is the defending Australian Open champion after he beat Rafael Nadal in last season's final.

It was the Spaniard, though, who had the last laugh in 2019 as he ended the season strongly to usurp Djokovic as world number one.

Djokovic, though, believes Australia can be kind to him again, telling the press upon his arrival in the country: "I love it.

"I've had an amazing 10 years in Australia going back to the first grand slam I won in Melbourne in 2008. Ever since then it has been a love affair."

Before Djokovic can get to the business of defending his Australian Open crown, he must first focus on the first ever ATP Cup.

"It's great to be back," he added. "It's been a while since I was last here in Brisbane.

"I can't wait for the inaugural ATP Cup event this year.

"Australia always puts on a great show for tennis during January. Any tennis event is successful in Australia and I'm sure the ATP Cup will be a blast.

"I'm inviting all the nations to come out and support us, especially the Serbian community."
