Del Potro splits with coach

Former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro has confirmed he is no longer using the services of coach Sebastian Prieto.

Prieto has been part of Del Potro's coaching set-up since August 2017 with the former Argentina Davis Cup player helping his compatriot to win his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title at the BNP Paribas Open in 2018 while he also reached his second US Open final later in the year.

However, Del Potro has been sidelined since June 2019 after undergoing surgery on a fractured right kneecap and his return date remains unclear.

The 2009 US Open winner confirmed on Twitter that he has parted company with Prieto, who will now work with world No 62 Juan Ignacio Londero.

“I want to share that I have agreed with Sebastian Prieto to end our partnership, so that he can work with Juan Londero, while I continue my rehab process,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I’m very thankful to Piper for all of these years together. He is a great coach and an even better person. All the best!”
