Del Potro home safe in quarantine following surgery

After knee surgery in Miami, Juan Martin del Potro returned home to Argentina where he is under self-isolation.

The 2009 US Open champion underwent knee surgery at the end of January this year after he fractured his right patella for a second time in less than a year during the Fever-Tree Championships in June 2019.

Although no return date has been set, the 31-year-old is on the mend and he spent the last few months in the United States to continue his recovery.

But with borders closing due to the coronavirus pandemic, Del Potro returned to his native Argentina and posted a message on Instagram.

"Early today I arrived home after two months in Miami. Of course, I am already following quarantine at home and will try to go on with my recovery here," he wrote.

"It is very important to take care of each other. Please follow the specialists’ advice, be empathetic. It is a special, unique moment and we need to give our best.

"I want to thank the commander of the Aerolineas Argentinas flight that landed this morning in Buenos Aires. Thanks to all its crew for their kindness during the flight. Also, a big hug to the doctors and health professionals during this difficult times."

#Yomequedoencasa #QuedateEnCasa . . Early today I arrived home after two months in Miami.
