Anderson off to flying start in Shanghai

Cape Town - South African tennis star Kevin Anderson eased past Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin in his opening match at the Shanghai Masters on Wednesday.

The seventh-seeded Anderson, who had a bye in the first round, beat the qualifier 6-3, 6-2 in their second round encounter.

In the round of 16, Anderson will face Greek young gun Stefanos Tsitsipas, who beat Russia's Karen Khachanov 6-4, 7-6 (10/8).

The 20-year-old earlier this year defeated Anderson 6-7 (4/7), 6-4, 7-6 (9/7) in a thrilling semi-final at the Toronto Masters.

The winner of that match could face 14-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals.
