Anderson climbs 19 places in latest rankings

Cape Town - Former Top 10 South African tennis player, Kevin Anderson, has jumped 19 places in the latest world rankings to 37th, following his French Open Round 4 result.

Anderson, who was placed 56th previously, looked like he was on his way back to his career high when he beat the likes of Nick Kyrgios and Davis Cup winner, Kyle Edmund, in his opening Roland Garros matches.

However, his progress came to a halt when he was forced to quit due to an injury against Croatia’s Marin Cilic in the Round of 16.

Fortunately, the 31-year-old described the setback as only a “small hamstring injury” and said the recovery looks promising.

Anderson was forced to retire when trailing 6-3, 3-0.

His next mission is on his favourite surface - grass - at the Aegon Championships at the Queen's Club, starting on Monday, June 19.
