Raonic seals Davis Cup spot

Halifax - Seventh-ranked Milos Raonic defeated Santiago Giraldo 6-1, 7-6 (7/2), 7-5 on Sunday, giving Canada a Davis Cup victory over Colombia and a berth in the 2015 event.

Raonic's triumph gave the host Canadians an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the World Group qualifying tie with one singles match yet to play.

Raonic and Vasek Pospisil each won singles matches on Friday for the first two Canadian points, but Colombia's Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah won in doubles on Saturday to sustain the South Americans' hopes of qualifying.

Canada booked a chance to take the trophy for the fourth year in a row while the Colombians have never qualified for the World Group.
