Cape Town - South African doubles ace Raven Klaasen received a welcome bonus cheque from his sponsors after reaching the Australian Open final.
Klaasen and his American partner, Eric Butorac, made it all the way to the final of the year's first Grand Slam in Melbourne, before losing 6-3, 6-3 to Poland's Lukasz Kubot and Sweden's Robert Lindstedt.
Klaasen and Butorac had accounted for four seeded pairings on their way to the final, including a memorable success over top seeds and world number one-ranked Americans, Bob and Mike Bryan.
Klaasen earned A$130 000 (R1.3m) for reaching the final.
Upon his return to South Africa, his sponsors, Koolcon, decided to give him an extra R10 000 for his efforts.
