Kohlschreiber to face Elias

Hamburg - Home favourite Philipp Kohlschreiber faces Gastao Elias in the bet-at-home Open second round after the Portuguese qualifier defeated Spain's Albert Montanes 6-4, 6-3 on the opening day Monday.

No. 7 seed Kohlschreiber, who is looking for his second title on home soil this season after winning in Düsseldorf, received a first-round bye at the clay-court event.

Benoit Paire defeated Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4). The Frenchman next faces 11th seed Santiago Giraldo of Colombia.

Austria's Dominic Thiem defeated Czech player Jiri Vesely 7-5, 6-0 for a second-round clash with Spain's eighth-seeded Marcel Granollers, and Serbia's Dusan Lajovic beat Frenchman Kenny De Schepper 6-3, 6-2.

Spanish qualifier Daniel Gimeno-Traver defeated Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili 6-2, 6-3 and compatriot Pablo Andujar beat Croatian qualifier Mate Delic 6-4, 6-2.
