Monte Carlo - The Monte Carlo Masters will go ahead with Novak Djokovic in his position as top seed after the Serb announced on Tuesday he is fit after days of treating a badly injured right ankle.
Officials breathed a sigh of relief as the world No 1 ruled himself ready for his start in the second round after a bye against Russian Mikhail Youzhny.
Djokovic hurt his ankle nine days ago during a Davis Cup victory in Idaho over the US and has been getting intense treatment and rehab ever since.
He said this week he would make a late decision on whether he could start and confirmed the good news to tournament director Zeljko Franulovic.
Youzhny stands 3-4 in his series with Djokovic and last faced the Serb in 2010.
