Del Potro to miss US Open

New York - Former champion Juan Martin del Potro will miss the US Open as he continues to recover from wrist surgery, the ATP tweeted on Friday.

Del Potro's absence from the final Grand Slam of the year is not a surprise.

The Argentinian battled pain in his let wrist that first flared up at the Australian Open in January.

He retired from his opening match in Dubai in February and then withdrew from tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami, undergoing surgery in late March.

He has not played since.

Del Potro underwent an operation on his right wrist after winning the US Open in 2009 and missed much of the next season.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
